I stepped forward to run for City Council after much thought and contemplation. I asked myself, "Is the road we are heading down now, the one that we want to be on in the next 4 years?" Just as a family or a business might experience growing pains, Sonoma is currently on this path.
I feel the town of Sonoma needs new leadership and guidance that reflects the wishes of the people in the important decisions that will impact our future. I also feel that the current council needs more diversity to best represent a broader segment of our citizenry.
Now is the time to look toward positive change, open mindedness, and clarifying our vision for the future. We need to represent the people who vote for us, and to approach our issues with fresh new ideas. I know that I deliver in all of these areas.
We are currently running out of space, and the face of Sonoma is rapidly changing every day. This is the time to manage our growth with caution and to infuse new energy and ideas into the current council's strategy.
There are many issues facing our beautiful town; many of which if not addressed and directed with careful consideration, will leave our town in a way that is irreparable, and we, the citizens will have to live with that.
I think we would all like to look back in 10 years and see rural open spaces, green areas, and a hospital that is still in busines. We would also like to see neighborhoods that are harmonious in design and size, which reflects our "small town" character we currently enjoy. I believe this is a possibility, but we must slow down, step back, and regroup. I will commit myself to this reality.
I am clear that a new voice in our government will truly be A VOICE FOR THE PEOPLE.
