Born in Alameda, California B.A. in Liberal Arts, Calif. State University Northridge Married One daughter and one granddaughter Employer - Alexander Thiele, Inc. - 22 years West End Neighborhood Association - member and current president 1984-present Beta Sigma Phi - 1987-present DeTurk Round Barn - 1994 neighborhood pressure along with mandates from the State Historic Preservation Office and State Architect's Office saved the Round Barn from being torn down. The barn has been stabilized and is surrounded by a neighborhood park and dog park. The DeTurk Round Barn Park was dedicated in 2000. DeTurk Commons - 1993-1994 worked on redesign with Burbank Housing, City Redevelopment Department and architect Alan Cohen to see that a low income housing development is compatible with the existing neighborhood. The development was completed in 1999 after an extensive toxic clean-up as the property was the old city Corporation Yard. Westend Preservation District - worked to have the Westend declared a historic district - 1993-1996. Designation was obtained in 1996. Later I assisted the McDonald Avenue Neighborhood in obtaining their designation. Railroad Square Association - supporting member and volunteer, 1996 to present Railroad Square Neighbors - 1997-1998 Railroad track clean-ups - 1997-1999 Southwest Area Citizens Group, 1997-1998 supporter, Board Member 1999-present R/UDAT/City Vision - served on the original steering committee as a neighborhood respresentative - 1998-1999 City Vision - Advisory member - 1999-2002 MTC I and MTC II grants - steering committee 1999-2002 Work to ban alcohol from neighborhood parks - 1998 Received two Merit Awards from the City of Santa Rosa as an individual and as a neighborhood association for neighborhood enrichment - 1998 Landlord held responsible for drug house two doors from teen center - 13 neighbors sued in Small Claims Court, award upheld on appeal. 1999 Our Plea to City for assistance helped to form the successful Neighborhood Revitalization Task Force Santa Rosa Police Department Neighborhood Oriented Policing Award - 1999 wrote letter nominating SRPD and participated in State interviews Southwest Area design team - reviews development plans submitted to the County and City for SW area and gives feedback - 199-present Graduate of City's first Citizens Academy - 1999 Graduate of Leadership Santa Rosa Class XVI - 1990-2000 Dog part at DeTurk dedicated to Maverick, the first K-9 killed in the line of duty - 2000 Appointed to Main Street Santa Rosa Executive Board representing Railroad Square - 2001-2002 Main Street Design Committee - working with Cal Trans on the 101 widening from Hwy 12 to Bicentennial - 2002 - present Main Street Promitions Committee - working to promote Santa Rosa dnd its downtown as a destination - 2002 Appointed to Charter Reveiw Committee by the Santa Rosa City Council - 2001-2002 |
