By Susan Foley

Candidate for Board Member; Cabrillo Unified School District

This information is provided by the candidate
Candidates for the Office of Member of the Governing Board
Susan Foley Occupation: Student Advocate (Special Education)

Education and Qualifications: If elected as your school-board representative, the following will be my top priorities:

1) Restoring transportation service to all students;

2)Redirecting funds to directly benefit classrooms;

3) Improving communicationn between parents and the district;

4) Placing the board's focus back on education and away from real estate deals; and,

5) Building a new middle school in a location desired by the community.

I will also work toward:

6) providing adequate supplies for classrooms; 7) relieving overcrowding in our schools; and, 8) implementing programs that serve all types of learners.

Our district has the potential to offer excellence in education and I will work toward that goal.

My background: My two children (ages 18 and 10) have attended district schools at various times since 1992 through the present. I hold a law degree, and have legal and human resources work experience. I have a no nonsense approach to the current board's handling of many important issues, and little tolerance for games. I have compassion and knowledge for what parents need from a school district. With my legal training and hands-on experience with CUSD, I will be an asset to the community as a board member.
