Board Member; Lincoln Unified School District

John Pratt grew up in Stockton, attended local schools, and graduated from the University of California in 1969. He received his Masters Degree in English in 1984 from the University of the Pacific. He has taught for 33 years, 20 of those in Stockton Unified School District. He taught for 3 years at Hamilton Junior High School and 17 years at Edison High School, where he also served as English Department Chair.

Since 1990 he has taught English at Cosumnes River College in the Elk Grove/South Sacramento area. In addition to teaching, he has chaired the English Department and the Information Technology Committee. He has served on numerous hiring committees, and currently is Director of the Capital Teacher Prep Program at Cosumnes. He is also the campus Educational Technology mentor.

John was married for over 30 years to Sherry Pratt, and they have four children, Aaron, Rebecca, Brendan, and Brian, and two grandchildren, JoLeen and Joshua Pratt. John comes from a family of teachers that emphasized community service. His mother and grandmother were both teachers, and his father was a school board member at Delta College from 1974 till 1982.
