Your support on Election Day will allow me to finish the job to which I was appointed after a lengthy interview process last January. I have spent the last several months talking with residents from around our community. Having listened to your concerns, these are my priorities as your representative: 1. Do more to fight crime. As a criminal prosecutor with the San Joaquin County District Attorney, I strongly support efforts to put more police officers on the street and expand our neighborhood policing efforts. 2. Improve Education and services for our Youth. As a parent, the needs of Stockton's youth are important to me. We have forged a strong partnership between the City Council and our 4 local school districts to implement expanded after school programs for youth. 3. Deliver city services in a cost-efficient manner. It is no secret that our economy remains fragile in the aftermath of the September 11th terrorist attacks. Many Stockton families have had to "tighten their belts" and find ways to economize # our city is no different. The potential for revenue cuts from the state and a reduction in our utility tax should cause us to re-evaluate our spending priorities from top to bottom. My background includes a law degree from Hastings College of the Law and an engineering degree from UC Berkeley. My husband Douglas and I have two children, Matthew, age 12 and Gabrielle, age 11. It is an honor to represent you on the City Council. |
