I believe SAFETY and EDUCATION should be our TOP priorities!By Steve BradfordCandidate for Board Member; Vista Unified School District | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
Recent decisions by the school board have sacrificed safety and education for our students. The job of a school board trustee is to help provide the highest quality education while maintaining the safest possible environment. Recent decisions by a majority of the school board trustees have placed priority elsewhere. You may have heard of the 140 employees that were recently fired as a result of the budget deficit that was looming. These employees were teachers, nurses and counselors. These employees provided a necessary service to our students. As a result of this decision, some students are without nurses and counselors. You may have also heard of the recent decision to cut transportation services for some of our schools. As a result, elementary school students at schools such as Olive and Crestview are required to walk to school on dangerous streets with no sidewalks. These decisions have sacrificed the safety and education of our students. New budget priorities are in order: priorities which place the students' safety and education at the forefront. I will never make a decision which compromises the SAFETY or EDUCATION of our students. |
