GOVERNING PHILOSOPHY
Focus On Students:
- Provide the highest level of education for students in all five high schools.
- Support policies that develop the whole child, in addition to academics, such as creative-thinking, decision-making, and leadership skills.
- Make decisions based on the ultimate effect of district policy on our children's learning and lives.
Work As a Team:
- Understand that the group, not the individual, represents the Board's authority.
- Partner with teachers, staff, administrators, parents, students, the Board and the community.
- Foster respect and trust by governing, not by intervening or managing.
Be Accountable:
- Review with the Board the Superintendent's goals and performance fairly and regularly.
- Develop a clear and thorough understanding of the issues to make sound decisions.
- Attend Board workshops on Budget, Personnel and other areas.
Foster Communication:
- Listen objectively to the community, and share feedback with the Board.
- Respect the differences among cultures, ethnicities, and points of view.
- Seek feedback from groups, including those whose voices are not always heard.
