This information is provided by the candidate |
Statement as it appears on the Nov. 5 ballot.LISA TAM Candidate for Governing Board Member Fremont Union High School District I graduated from Northwestern University and worked as a Computer Systems Analyst before committing myself full-time to raising my children. I have a daughter at Lynbrook High and another at Miller Middle School. I served 15 years as a community volunteer. I demonstrated leadership as a School Site Council president, founding member of the Lynbrook Bilingual Adult Mentoring Program, director of a Vietnamese refugee relief program, and Board Member of the Saratoga Swimming Club. I supported the Arts as chairperson of the Bay Area High School Orchestra Festival, founder of a K-6 ceramics program, and director of Blue Hills' Art Docent program. My work with children as a teen crisis intervention counselor, volunteer teacher and soccer coach has shown me that our future lies in preparing our students for a complex world. My first priority will be to ensure access to the best educational programs for every student, whether college-bound or career-oriented, so that each may realize his or her full potential. As a Board Trustee I will work diligently with our community and educational professionals to strengthen our educational, arts and extracurricular programs. Let's work together to put our students first! |
