Candidate for
Board Member; Campbell Union School District

With my financial background, I think I can add to the quality of leadership on the existing school board. My hope is help foster a school environment that challenges students to achieve the best possible education, builds strong character, and rewards students as they achieve those goals.

Let's set our expectations for our children high -- where we challenge kids to excel with tough academic standards, we can bring out their best and prepare them for high school, college and life. When we cater to easy, feel-good standards, we do all of our kids a disservice and sell them short.

School is about students. Too often the focus is on other issues, or on the school district, rather than towards funding in-school and extracurricular programs for students. Buildings and government compliance are important, but we must be careful when financially prioritizing them before our childrens' opportunities for a well-rounded and challenging education. With the reduction in funding in the state budget, it is critical that every dollar be spent in the most effective way, with the goal of educating kids.

With both of my children enrolled in the district now, I am unique in this race. I can provide the perspective of an involved parent that the other candidates have now passed as their children have grown and gone to college. Please allow me to represent you on the governing board by voting for me on November 5.
