Water is the foundation of a community. It has truly helped to make the Goleta Valley "the Good Land". My career has been devoted to assuring quality, affordable water for the people of the South Coast. Where water is concerned, EXPERIENCE COUNTS!
WATER SUPPLY?
I served:
- 5 years as Water Resources Manager, City of Santa Barbara
- 22 years as General Manager of Montecito Water District
- 3 years as Manager of Lake Cachuma Conservation Release Board
I have learned how to provide an assured supply of clean water, at an affordable cost, to the residents of this area.
WATER QUALITY?
- Appointed to the Regional Water Quality Control Board by the Governor of California. Helped clean up oil pollution at Avila Beach and the Guadalupe Dunes, and assured the cleanup of the Casmalia toxic waste landfill.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERTISE?
- A Registered Professional Engineer, with Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Civil Engineering. I have the knowledge and training for obtaining, treating and delivering water.
GOLETA UNDERSTANDING?
As a long-term resident, I know Goleta!
- My wife and I have lived in the Goleta Valley since 1974, where we've raised our two daughters.
- On the Cachuma Conservation Release Board, I have spent years working to provide assured supplies of clean water to the Goleta Valley, at an affordable cost.
- I have been a Goleta Water District ratepayer for 28 years. I care about my water rates - and yours! I know what it takes to provide clean, affordable water to our community.
COMMUNITY PLANNING?
- Appointed by the County Board of Supervisors to the Montecito General Plan Advisory Committee for seven years. Established the Montecito Community Plan.
ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION?
As a water professional, I have balanced water supplies with environmental concerns, such as:
- Preserving endangered steelhead trout habitat.
- Obtaining millions of dollars in State and Federal grants for local habitat protection projects.
