Candidate for
Board Member; Sacramento City Unified School District

My name is Gregory J. Tate, and I am running for the position of 'Governing Board Member' for the 'Sacramento City Unified School District,' (SCUSD). I chose to run for this postion after the birth of my own daghter, Ashley, this past June. My wife, Brenda, and I discussed the future education of our new little bundle of joy, and also that of our nieces who are currently in school in this district. We agreed that as parents, we wanted to do everything that we could to make a difference, not only in the educatioon and life of our own daughter, but in the lives of all of the children here in Sacramento.

I myself am a graduate of the Sacramento City Unified School District, and I know from personal experience that this district has some of the greatest educators around. The teachers throughout the district are wonderful, dedicated, and work extremely hard to give our students the very best education possible. I consider the teachers of the SCUSD to be great and valued friends of mine, and I feel that the time has come for me to do all that I can to give back to them.

This District has many problems, and it is time to kick it into high gear and start solving the problems and dealing with many of the major issues sitting before the district today.
