The problems facing our city relative to infrastructure needs are founded in the decisions over the past 20-30 years that have now come home to roost. In the 1960's-70's Huntington Beach had the distinction of being the "fastest growing city in the nation." We are now faced with correcting the past poor behavior of government by having to make repairs that were known, but not planned for in a systematic fashion deserving of a growing municipality. The deferring of expenditures, at that time, for consideration of employee benefits and other immediate issues will soon cost the city taxpayers hundreds of millions of dollars. I think of the commercial where the mechanic explains the righteousness of preventive maintenance, "Pay me now, or pay me (much more) later." I guess you know the answer. Our city council will have to investigate, analyze, plan and lead to insure the future of our city. I want to do that for you and I have the skills to get the job done.
