My Candidate Statement

My name is Nikan Khatibi and I am running for City Council of Laguna Niguel. Being a good citizen is a crucial part of being a good person. I was raised to consider the welfare of others, to contribute to my community, and to do my best to improve the quality of life for all. I have chaired many committees including NIPOC. I have also worked for 3 public officials, including Mayor Larry Agran of Irvine. My personal philosophy is to not only do the right thing, but to do things right.

I am running a `grass roots' campaign. My only desire is to contribute to this community in the best way possible. I am walking neighborhoods, knocking on doors, and learning about the issues that are important to you. Hopefully then, I will be more than just a name on a ballot # I will be the spokesperson for the entire community, making Laguna Niguel a better place for all.

I pledge that the cornerstones of my service to the citizens of Laguna Niguel will be integrity, accountability, and accessibility. As your Council member, I will focus on these critical issues:

·Maintain quality of all parks & recreational sites
·Support strong community safety
·Improve water quality
·Beautify all neighborhoods
·Implement Measure W and ensure the El Toro Base becomes
the Orange County `Great Park'
