I have been a member of City Councils that have:Guided the city successfully through the Orange County bankruptcy without cuts in public safety, recreation programs, or public works service levels. Negotiated with other Orange County cities to keep the library open for a minimum of five days a week without being required to cover the annual operating deficit of approximately $65,000 from our General Fund. Negotiated to maintain the Orange County Fire Authority fire station without having to cover the annual operating deficit of approximately $250,000 from our General Fund. Eliminated the $71.00 per household Landscape & Lighting District assessment from your property tax bill. Created a partnership with the City of Cypress to build a roller hockey rink at Arnold Cypress Park convenient for La Palma residents. Initiated programs to enhance the beauty of La Palma's streets and public areas. Entended the green belt to the City's west border. Initiated the construction of a new multipurpose park building to accommodate over twice the current capacity and renovate the exising building. Established working partnerships with the local schools for after school and summer programs for our youth. Attracted new business to La Palma that maintains a high occupancy rate in Centerpointe and the industrial area of the city and also has allowed many of the older warehouses to be brought up to current earthquake and ADA standards while providing customers for local businesses. |
