With a good track record in engineering and business, John has consistently earned the confidence and respect of both customers and executive management. This has helped him to adapt quickly to his role as a Councilmember.
For much of his adult life John has served in leadership roles in aerospace engineering and his church. Leadership experience includes several years as president of the Montefino Homeowners Association in Diamond Bar, an association of over 540 families. John has served on the General Plan Advisory Committee before being unanimously appointed to the City Council in November, 2001. Leadership comes naturally to him. His role as a Councilmember is a natural extension of his position as Director of Engineering for Parker Hannifin Corporation, where decisions have to be fact-based and in the best interest of the customers, and have to make good business sense without compromising safety--where sound judgment and decisive leadership are essential. John has a good track record, having consistently earned the confidence and respect of customers, colleagues, employees and executive management. John believes it has helped him to adapt quickly to his role as a Councilmember. He has been described as a "quick study" with a good grasp of the issues. He is willing to do his homework, ask relevant questions of staff and make logical decisions based on the facts and not momentary feelings or emotions. Feedback from the community is equally important to him. This balanced, common sense approach provides a solid foundation for dealing with the critical issues facing Brea, such as hillside development, traffic, infrastructure, a sports park, public safety, and fiscal management -- especially in an uncertain economy. Consequently, he has earned the confidence and endorsement of many community leaders and residents. John and his wife, Sharon, long-time residents of Brea, care strongly about the community and quality of life of all Breans.
