Smart Voter Political Philosophy for Judy McCormick

Candidate for
Board Member; Rosedale Union School District

This information is provided by the candidate

Public schools were founded to provide all students with the basic educational skills needed to maintain our democracy. Over the past 225+ years the definition of basic educational skills has been modified, but the maintenance of our democracy has not. Public education is the institution of the people and for all people. It does not have the luxury of choosing only the best and the brightest. Public education's responsibility is to provide the opportunity to any student to become the best that they can become.

Public Education is a team effort. It takes teachers, administrators, classified employees, trustees and parents, working together to provide the best education and support to serve the educational needs of the individual student.

My objectives as Trustee are:

  • to make sure that all students have the opportunity to learn.
  • to read, listen and keep an open mind on the issues presented to me.
  • to trust and respect the many outstanding professionals, certificated, classified and management employed by the Rosedale School District.
  • to bring my individual voice to the decisions that the Board as a team must make.
  • to serve with honesty and integrity.
  • to recognize excellence wherever I find it.

I have been educated in the public school system and strongly believe in the institution. I have been involved with public education as a student, teacher, trustee and parent. I have the education and experience to relate to all members of the team that works to serve the needs of all students. I also am not, now, employed outside of the home and would have the time to devote to the position.

Once again, I believe in Public Education. I believe that the mission of Public Education is to serve the student. As a Trustee, I would like to help accomplish that mission. I will serve with honesty, integrity, an open mind and a willingness to listen.
