Board of Trustees - El Dorado Union High School DistrictBy Lee B. HughesCandidate for Governing Board Member; El Dorado Union High School District | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
QualificationsI am seeking reelection to the high school board because I want to ensure that we continue to provide excellent educational services to our students. As a trustee for the past eight years, I have worked with our community, colleagues, teachers, and staff to accompliish many goals. We have opened Union Mine High School, will soon build a fifth comprehensive high school on Bass Lake Road, and have aggressively pursued state funding to modernize our older schools. Opening Shenandoah Charter School and Vista School are examples of our commitment to expanding opportunities for our students. We continue to develop rigorous curriculum for all students at all levels. We have relationships of mutual trust with our employee groups and have worked hard to build strong partnerships with parents and members of the business community. I have lived in El Dorado County for over twenty years and raised my children here. I have always been actively involved with the kids in our community. I was a Girl Scout leader for ten years, headed an After School Enrichment Program for the Placerville district for five years, worked in the County's CARE program for at-risk kids for three years, and helped organize the first Sober Grad Night at El Dorado High School. My main qualifications for this office are my deep commitment to education and to our students and the experience I have gained over the past eight years. I am very proud of our schools and our students, but I also understand that improvement is a constant process. I would appreciate your vote so that I may continue to serve the students of our district. |
