CRAIG KAUFFMAN BIO Craig is a native Californian who has resided in the Bay Area continuously, with the exception of four years spent in Taipei, Taiwan during his high school years. He is a 1975 graduate of the University of California, Berkeley, majoring in Chinese language. He has been a Concord property owner since 1989. He is a single parent, raising two adopted boys, Seth, age 2, and Tommy, age 4, who are of African-American heritage. Craig's public service experience includes more than 26 years of government service, having worked for several agencies including the National Park Service, US Customs Service, and most recently as a consumer investigator for the Federal Trade Commission, fighting against consumer fraud and injury. Recent cases have focused on senior citizen and elder fraud, computer scams and identity theft. Craig has previously served on the Board of Directors of an east bay housing cooperative that provides housing for more than 1,000 University of California students. He has also served on the Board of Directors of a San Francisco Credit Union which served several thousand members in the San Francisco Bay Area. Craig and his family attend religious services weekly in Pleasant Hill. He feels he can easily work not only with the continuing Council members, but with senior, neighborhood, law enforcement, ethnic, gay and lesbian and other social organizations in Concord, to insure that Concord continues to move ahead as one of the Bay Areas most eminently liveable, socially cohesive, and fiscally sound communities! |
