I was raised in the Bay Area, received my BSW from the University of Texas El Paso, and studied advanced coursework at San Jose State University. I am employed by STAND! Against Domestic Violence and have directed programs and staff in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Houston and Washington, D.C.

I serve on commissions including the Contra Costa Commission for Women, the National Women's Political Caucus of Contra Costa, the Latino Leadership Council of Contra Costa, and the Democratic Central Committee. I have served on the Commission for National and Community Services, the Senior Services Task Force, and the Muni Accessible Services to Seniors Task Force.
