My priorities include:

Revitalizing Fremont's Historic Areas and Creating a Vibrant Downtown:Our leaders need to work with business owners and residents throughout Fremont to attract cultural activities, entertainment venues, and fine dining establishments to our city. Preservation of the unique historic identities of Mission San Jose, Niles, Irvington and Centerville is a critical step in this process - another is creative planning of the Central Business District area to create a vibrant downtown. Not only will this add to our quality of life, but it will generate additional tax revenue to pay for vital city services such as public safety and maintenance of our park system.

Relieving Traffic Congestion: It is imperative that we work with local, regional, state and Federal officials to ease congestion on our city streets, promote safety in our neighborhoods and get traffic moving on our freeways. Expediting the BART expansion to Warm Springs and San Jose, advocating for an Irvington station, and expanding ACE train service from the Central Valley are examples of strategies that we should pursue.

Expanding Affordable Housing: By proactively rezoning old and underutilized commercial and industrial areas, we can increase affordable housing options in Fremont to ensure that our hills and open space are protected, our children can afford to live here and our seniors can afford to stay.

Supporting Our Children and Schools: Excellent and safe Fremont public schools helped me to get where I am today. Our children deserve the same, and our local schools and youth programs need our investment and attention to ensure that every child has access to a safe and successful education.

Preserving our Hills: I have long been a supporter of the Hillside Initiative which has effectively protected our hills from development since 1981. I would support the extension of the Hillside Initiative to include both the Vargas Plateau and Sheridan Road areas.
