Education

I grew up in the Long Beach Unified School District, attending Gompers Elementary, Bancroft and Lakewood High School. I then attended Long Beach City College and was honored to receive a full scholarship to the University of Southern California. I received a M.A. from Cal State University at Long Beach and my teaching credential from Cal State University at Fullerton. I have completed 45 units beyond my Master's Degree.

Personal

I have lived in this area since I was 1 year old. I am married to Greg and we have a 10 year old son, Josh. We have lived in the Lakewood Village of Long Beach for 11 years.

Community Service

I have been an active member of the Lakewood Village Neighborhood Association since its inception. I serve on the Board of Directors and I am Chair of the Government Relations Committee. My primary responsiblities in the last year, have been to research the Boeing Pacificenter Project, determine a consensus of neighborhood opinion, develop appropriate strategies for participation and implement those strategies. As such, I have lead the effort to eliminate the proposed 3,8000 residential units on the Boeing property at Carson and Lakewood Blvd. We have presented our findings to council members, neighborhood organizations and mayoral candidates from Long Beach and Lakewood. My primary motivation has been the tremendous overcrowding that will occur in our schools as a result of this project. Unfortunately, our children are typically forgotten as development begins.

In addition to my Neighborhood Association activities, I am a block captain, classroom volunteer, and serve on the Long Beach City College 75th Anniversary Committee.

Professional

I teach full time at Los Alamitos High School.
