Since 1994, Bob Jehn has served on the Cloverdale City Council. He is now serving his third term as mayor of Cloverdale. In addition to being an active manager of his hometown, Jehn has taken a leading regional role in securing funding and public transit options to connect North Coast neighbors to each other and to Bay Area communities. As the immediate past chairman of the North Coast Railroad Authority, Jehn successfully lobbied the legislature and the governor to secure over $60 million in state funding to re-open the Northwestern Pacific Railroad. As a member of the Sonoma/Marin Area Rail Transit Commission (SMART), Bob is playing a major role in the development of the plan to implement Commuter Rail Service for the North Bay region. Farther north, Bob is a member of the Humboldt County Prosperity 2000 Transportation Group. As mayor, Bob Jehn has focused on developing long-term initiatives that address the needs of youth and senior citizens in the community. He has led the way in re-opening several multi-use city parks, championed the Community Partnership program for at-risk youth and spearheaded the town's successful anti-graffiti program. In addition, Bob Jehn has worked to better serve older citizens, acting as the volunteer vice president of Visiting Home Care and the Council on Aging. Bob also served as a member of the Sonoma County Area Agency on Aging Advisory Council Legislative Committee, helping to develop and support legislation at the local and state level to benefit senior citizens. As the owner of Cloverdale-based Moraine Associates, Bob Jehn is also a respected leader in the business community. Since 1981, his company has been a leading local insurance provider, and he is active in both the North Coast Association of Health Underwriters and the Cloverdale Chamber of Commerce. Bob was born in a small town in Eastern Tennessee on December 22, 1944. His father was a college professor and his mother is an artist. He is the oldest of four children, having a brother and two sisters. Bob's own family consists of three daughters, ages 38, 36, and 27. Nancy and Bob met in Houston, Texas while Nancy was working as Traffic Manager for KHOU Television and Bob was a Vice-President with Detroit Steel Corporation. Bob served in the United States Navy aboard ship in Vietnam and, after separation from active duty, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry with a minor in Mathematics from the University of Texas at Austin, working until 1978 in the plastics industry. After moving to Sonoma County, Bob worked in sales, founding his own company, Moraine Associates in 1981. Jehn's wife, Nancy, works at Moraine Associates and is actively involved in the community. |
