GIVING LOWER INCOME WORKERS A SHOT AT THE AMERICAN DREAM: Home or business ownership is the heart of the American Dream. California is becoming unaffordable for working people because of many useless regulations and red tape. Real jobs, thousands of new homes. I will fight to reform the tax code and to cut all taxes, especially the sales tax which disproportionately targets the poor. TOUGH LAW ENFORCEMENT AND IMPROVED PUBLIC SAFETY: Demand the Federal Government safeguard our borders for national security. Reform the State judicial code to ensure violent criminals serve their full terms! Defend our 2nd Amendment right to keep and bear firearms. Hard time for armed crime! Increased funding for community policing, information technology systems, and public safety training. MORE MONEY AND LESS WASTE IN EDUCATION: Require higher education standards. Increased pay for teachers based on increases in student performance. Almost half of Latino and African-American students drop out of high school in California. Give the parents of kids stuck in failing schools "opportunity scholarships" to send them to other public, private, or faith-based schools. Encourage public-private work-study partnerships and technical training. Support our Community Colleges on a par with the elite UC system. Improve opportunity for all by teaching in English. End governmental racial discrimination: One standard for all Americans. |
