The great-great granddaughter of California Congressman John A. Barham (R-Santa Rosa, 1895-1901), bipartisan Democrat Mosemarie Boyd was born in Santa Rosa, California (b. 1969) and now lives in Sacramento. She earned a BA in American Civilization from Brown University, an MA in National Security Studies from the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University, and studied at Oxford University.

Ms. Boyd has defended the interests of Californians in Washington, D.C., and in Sacramento. In Washington, D.C., she served in numerous capacities for California's senior U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein, Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez (D-Anaheim), and Congresswoman Corrine Brown (D-Florida). She also served as an analyst for The President John F. Kennedy Assassination Records Review Board, declassifying federal documents (with a Top Secret security clearance).

In Sacramento, during the first year of Gov. Davis' administration Mosemarie Boyd served in the Governor's Office of Constituent Affairs, as Special Assistant to now Chief of Staff Lynn Schenk in the Governor's Executive Office, and as Staff Analyst in the Governor's Office of Planning and Research. Ms. Boyd helped to set-up the new administration, coordinated statewide review of environmental quality documents, analyzed proposed legislation, and recommended sign or veto decisions on bills sent to the Governor's desk. Ms. Boyd also served as communications aide for California Attorney General Bill Lockyer's successful 1998 campaign.

In 1995, Mosemarie Boyd served as assistant to the chief of the Oil and Gas Division at the World Bank, helping prepare a book on financing oil, gas and power projects. She served four missions in war-torn Bosnia implementing the restoration of civilian government as called for in the Dayton Peace Accords from 1997-98. During the 1993-94 academic year, she taught English as a Princeton-in-Asia intern in China and advised local government officials on improving relations with western businesses. Ms. Boyd has traveled widely in the Americas, Europe, Asia, and the former Soviet Union.

Currently, Ms. Boyd serves as President & CEO of American Women Presidents, a national organization dedicated to electing women presidents and vice presidents of the United States. Founded in 2000, American Women Presidents has built nationwide recognition with The 2000 Campaign For Women Vice Presidential Nominees and efforts to recruit Democratic and Republican women to run for the presidency in 2004.

As head of American Women Presidents, Mosemarie Boyd works aggressively to build commander-in-chief credibility for women presidential candidates. Ms. Boyd has appeared on CNN's Inside Politics and Fox's The O'Reilly Factor, endorsing women who've demonstrated outstanding leadership in national defense and international security, including Elizabeth Dole, Sen. Dianne Feinstein, Sen. Hillary Clinton, and Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison. Ms. Boyd has also urged women to run for governor in all 50 states in 2002 because governorships are the political pipeline to the presidency.
