Trial Attorney Robert Sheridan Biography

Robert Sheridan has served as a San Francisco prosecutor and defense attorney for over 30 years. In the DA's office he headed the rape prosecution unit. As a defense attorney he has tried major, serious criminal cases, and has civil and immigration law experience as well.

A native of Staten Island, NY, Sheridan graduated from Wagner College (NY) and earned his law degree at New York University School of Law. He is a 35-year resident of San Francisco and is married to Marie Heredia Sheridan. They have three grown sons. Robbie is a UC Berkeley graduate and received his Masters from Stanford. Ted is a senior at Cal and tutors other students. Rick is in his third year at MIT.

Sheridan served seven years as an assistant district attorney. As a member of the San Francisco DA's office he was presented with the "Champion of the People" award by his colleagues. For 27 years he has been a defense attorney, trying such notable cases as the "Golden Dragon Massacre" and the "Foxglove" poison-murder conspiracy that he succeeded in having dismissed, showing there was no poison, much less murder.

Based on peer evaluation, the Bar Association of San Francisco (BASF) has certified Sheridan as qualified for court-appointment in the most serious cases, including murder and the death penalty.

He has led educational and training seminars for lawyers, judges, psychiatrists and other professionals on emerging issues in criminal law. As a speaker and writer, Sheridan has used his expertise to alert professionals in the legal community on significant issues in forensic investigation regarding the validation of accusations.

Sheridan served on the BASF Criminal Justice Committee considering such issues as diversion for minor offenses, alternative work programs and other legal matters of importance. He's helped people new to the United States to legally obtain their green cards.
