Planning for the FutureBy Bill HornCandidate for Board of Supervisors; County of San Diego; Supervisorial District 5 | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
Affordable housing and traffic congestion are two of the most important issues facing North CountyThe County of San Diego Department of Planning and Land Use is planning now for the future of growth in San Diego County. When GP 2020 (as the County's General Plan Revision is referred to) seemed to exclude the rights of property owners, I spoke out and insisted on more participation. I want to preserve our agricultural heritage, protect endangered open and space and plan effectively to meet future needs for transportation, affordable housing and a healthy economy. When special interests attempted to block rail line improvements, I stood up and secured approval for coastal double-tracking, a project that will offer transit alternatives and reduce freeway congestion for North County commuters. |
