I am proud to call myself a progressive.

I believe all people have a right to live free from political, economic, and social oppression, with their basic needs as humans met. We have the resources and knowledge available to us to enable all people to live in peace and free from hardship and suffering, and to me it is a great shame that we permit so many, both in our own country and throughout the world, to live under oppression or in need.

I believe children have a right to be protected by society from harm during their vulnerable years, and to receive the development, preparation, and opportunities they need to live well as adults.

I believe that democracy and justice are worth fighting for. I am proud to have devoted nine years of my life to serving these values in the U.S. Navy, and I will continue to fight for them through my work in the Democratic Party and in all I do.
