It's hard to think of a better-qualified candidate for Sheriff than Terry Kaiser. For more than thirty years, law enforcement has been the focus of Terry's life. For Terry, it's more than a career, it's a commitment, a commitment to see justice done, lawbreakers apprehended, and the lives and property of the people of Monterey County protected.

Terry currently holds the rank of Investigative Staff Sergeant and supervisor of the Property Crimes Unit.

  • 31-year veteran of the Sheriff's Department.
  • Vietnam War veteran, Office of Naval Intelligence, Naval Security Group Attachment ( NSGA ).
  • FBI National Academy graduate.
  • Drug Enforcement Administration Commander's Academy graduate.
  • Anti-terrorist school training. Dignitary Protection School, protected U.S. Presidents and Pope John Paul II.
  • Past President, Deputies Benefit Association.
  • Past Director, Youth Explorer Post program.
  • Experienced in all phases of law enforcement, including homicide, narcotics, juvenile crime, sexual assault, elder abuse, forensics, auto theft, general investigations, property crimes, and the jail.
  • Numerous honors and awards, including Law Enforcement Officer of the Year, Deputy of the Month, Top Cop, and Monterey County Team Award.
