Bakersfield has been my home for more than 35 years. I graduated from West High School in 1976 and decided to attend Bakersfield College while working for Sears, Roebuck and Company. In 1980, I started my employment with the Kern High School District, where I have worked as an Instructional Assistant, Study Proctor, Attendance Clerk, Guidance Technician and now Teacher. Most of my service was with BHS.
Currently, I am teaching English, Economics and serving as the Forensics/Debate Coach at Arvin High School.
In 1996, I decided it was time for me to take a major step in life and become a part of the decision-making force in Kern County. My first step was to become a part of the academy of Cal State Bakersfield, where I obtained a degree in Political Science. In 2000, I successfully campaigned for one of the vacant seats on the Greenfield Union School District-Board of Trustees.
Curtis and I have been married for 19+ years. We have four beautiful children: Charles is attending BC; Jennifer is a GATE senior at BHS and holds the #2 place in the Kern Forensics League; Nicole is a sophomore in the AVID program; and Phillip is a freshman and in the GATE program at BHS.
