This information is provided by the candidate

I am currently serving as your elected Recorder-Clerk, first elected in 1995 and again in 1999. "Service to the People" is my office policy. The office is the guardian of your records and I insure that those records are preserved for posterity. I have used modern technology to make it easier for the public to access information by providing an award winning website that provides public information from the 1850 forward. The site has been accessed over 580,000 times since October l999. A state of the art computer system enables the office to provide quick, efficient service and the recent addition of digitized scanning and bar-coding allow further enhancements such as digital images, microfilm back-up and automatic transfer of documents between county offices as needed. All this means continued excellent service to the public.

I want to continue as your Recorder-Clerk because with all the advancement in technology, there is still more to accomplish, as additional tools become available. Technology should be used to improve service, not just for the sake of technology. Within the next year or two, there will be exciting advancements in all areas of public service and I want to be a part. I ask that you allow me to continue to serve as your Recorder-Clerk.

OFFICIAL CANDIDATE STATEMENT

I have been the El Dorado County Recorder-Clerk since January 1995, the official keeper of the public record. The public has access to these records in the office and on the website. <co.el-dorado.ca.us/countyclerk> The website was recently recognized for its content, design and interactivity by the "Dottie Awards", and also honored with a 2001-2002 Golden Web Award.

As a revenue generating department, I feel a strong sense of responsibility to efficiently collect fees and taxes for deposit to the general fund.

In Placerville and South Lake Tahoe offices we process applications for Passports, Ficitious Business Name Statements, Marriage licenses and perform civil ceremonies.

The office records all documents pertaining to the land, and other documents prescribed by law. The installation of a computerized indexing and cashiering system has automated office procedures. Certified copies of documents are available. A credit card system for ordering Vital Statistic records has improved efficiency.

We have instituted major changes within the office utilizing current technology. I look forward to the next four years to complete my goals to fully automate the office. I served our country in the U. S. Navy as a Chief Petty Officer. I am serving our county as the Recorder-Clerk. I promise to serve with integrity and efficiency. I ask for your vote.
