Vision for the Sheriff's OfficeBy Jeff NevesCandidate for Sheriff-Coroner-Public Administrator; County of El Dorado | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
I am proud of the accomplishments of the Sheriff's Office. Under my leadership, the department will truly become a community based agency.I will open up the doors of the Sheriff's Office to our community. Our deputies will get out of their cars and introduce themselves to the community in which they work. We have already begun the process of "Team Policing" where deputies are assigned to the same area with the same supervisor. Being committed to a particular area, taking ownership of an assigned community will create an environment where deputies are familiar with the activities in their area. They will address issues important to the particular community. Quality of life issues, vehicles speeding, abandoned vehicles, graffitti, etc. are typical issues the deputies will address. In addition to the deputies being committed to our communities, the management staff will also become active in our communities. Administrators will attend community events, service club meetings, and grand opening events establishing relationships with our community & citizens. The department is approximately two months away from activating our new website. The website is interactive with the community, providing opportunties for citizens to communicate directly with members of the department. As an example, the website will have a icon "Ask the Undersheriff". I will pursue construction of a full service Sheriffs Substation in the west end of the county and expand the role of our satellite offices throughout the county. Under my leadership, the Sheriff's Office will continue to build partnerships with our schools and develop programs for the youth of our community. I am committed to the youth of the county; I am currently a Director of the Western El Dorado Boys and Girls Club. In addition to community policing, our deputies will continue to pursue law violators. Taking a tough stand against juvenile crime, violent offenders and those who would commit crimes against children and the elderly. My goal is simple, maintain El Dorado as a safe place to live, work and play. |
