Improve School SafetyBy Jacki Fox RubyCandidate for Member; Alameda County Board of Education; Trustee Area 1 | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
The improvement of school safety continues to be a need for many school districtsOne of the functions of the Alameda County Board of Education is to hear apppeals of local school board decisions on school safety. Many times these safety decisions made by local school boards are overturned on appeal. I will protect the due process rights of students and ensure our students have a safe and secure learning environment. There are many training programs to help teachers, administrators and other educational workers recognize behaviors in students that might lead to violence. These programs need to be disseminated to school sites and training in how to control violent student (and adult visitors) needs to be taught through professional development seminars. Students can not learn if they feel unsafe. As a member of the Alameda County Board of Education I will work to improve school safety. |
