Candidate for
Member of City Council; City of Piedmont; Full Term

I was born in 1955 and raised in Millburn, New Jersey. I graduated with a B.A. in English from Oberlin College (in Ohio) in 1977. That same year, I moved to San Francisco and was employed by the University of San Francisco. I became the Manager of USF's Employee and Labor Relations Department and participated on the University's bargaining team.

While employed at USF, I attended its law school at night. I obtained my J.D. in 1983. After completing an internship at the National Labor Relations Board's San Francisco office, I was admitted to practice law in 1984 in California and I became associated that year with Thierman, Simpson & Cook, where I practiced labor and employment law. I remain licensed to practice in California and am currently on "inactive" status.

I married my husband, Dave, in 1983. We purchased our first home in the Montclair District of Oakland in 1984. Our first daughter, Pearl, was born in 1985. We moved to Piedmont in 1991 when Pearl was ready to begin school. We bought our home on San Carlos Avenue that year. Pearl, 16, attended Wildwood and the Middle School, and is currently a junior at Piedmont High School where she is a member of the girls' varsity water polo team, a member of the yearbook staff, and an honor student.

Our second daughter, Lilly, was born in 1991. Lilly, 10, attended Piedmont Playschool. She is currently in 5th grade at Wildwood. She plays soccer and basketball. She is a member of the Wildwood Traffic Squad.
