Jay Groenke has been a Madeira resident for 12 years. He and his wife Peggy, a former elementary teacher, live on Redondo Court with their two sons Michael and Brian. Michael is a fourth grader at Sellman and Brian is a kindergartner at Dumont. Jay and Peggy both volunteer in the schools and Peggy serves as the PTA representative on the Planning Commission. Jay is a Mariemont High School graduate, and received his BA degree in Business from Wittenberg University. He is self employed as a telecommunications consultant. He has over twenty years of experience in management, finance, marketing, and computer support. Jay also started and built a successful computer training company serving business clients throughout Southwest Ohio and Northern Kentucky. Jay is an Eagle Scout and a leader with Madeira Cub Scout pack 20. He is a member of Hyde Park Methodist Church where he has served on the education, pastor-parish, and administrative boards. Jay founded a non-profit organization to inform citizens on important policy issues. He has extensively researched federal and state education reform efforts and their impact on local school districts. He has testified before state legislators and U.S. Congressional Representatives regarding K-12 education. Jay is a strong defender of our traditional values. He believes in our right to maintain local control over school curriculum and policy making. As the only candidate with children in Dumont and Sellman Schools, Jay has a vested interest in maintaining the excellence of our district. |
