Candidate for
Board Member; Turlock Joint Union High School District

Hello, my name is Anna Ramirez and I am running for Turlock High School Board of Trustees. There are several reasons why I wish to be a school board member. I will share a few. First, I am an advocate for public school education. I want public school education to be successful, challenging and effective in students' lives. As a policy maker, I can help implement programs and hire staff to ensure every high school student graduates. Secondly, A special interest is school safety. Students have a right to feel safe at school. I'll do my best to insure the safety of all students and staff, by implementing policies that support a safe campus environment and will work with community members and local law enforcement to educate our students on the issue of safety. Thirdly, parent's representation. I have spoken to hundreds of parents while visiting the Turlock High School District's back to school nights. I have listened to their ideas and concerns. I will represent the concerns and ideas of parents and community members in the district.

The shaping and guiding of our youth is something I take very seriously. I have worked with youth for eight years. I have been a camp counselor and mentor to sixth through high school students. I am currently working in a school district of preschool to eighth grade students. I have worked as a yard duty supervisor, office clerk, classroom aide, secretary and currently as an attendance coordinator. I have served on the School Site Council for two years; have been involved with the Spanish speaking community as the English Learning Advisory Committee's (ELAC) Coordinator and a Parent/Teacher Club supporter.
