Smart Voter Political Philosophy for Dave Lopez

Candidate for
Council Member, Chair 2; City of Modesto

This information is provided by the candidate

Vote Dave Lopez!

A seat on the Modesto City Council represents an expansion of my volunteer work in our community. As a life long resident of Modesto, I am actively committed to such organizations such as Stanislaus Civitan, United Way Proposition 10 Advisory Board, Latino Community Roundtable, and the City of Modesto Community Qualities Forum. I will work to make Modesto a safer place to live, work and raise a family.

My priorities include the following:

  • Citizen safety: Every member of our community should feel safe on our city streets. Pan Handlers are appearing more frequently and in greater numbers on street corners and intersections. Measures need to be taken to stop road side harassment and to ensue safety on our streets. Our Fire Department is undermanned and it makes our city unsafe. We need to increase then number of Fire Fighters so that every home is safe in Modesto!
  • Civility in the Council Chambers: City Councilors need to be role models for our children and our community. City leaders need to actively work together to overcome differences instead of working against each other to the determent of the city.
  • Street Repairs: The state of our city streets is embarrassing. Having good roads is vital to a healthy economy. The city council must work with the county and the state to find new methods of fixing our streets.

Vote Lopez!
