Our District Must Force the Federal Government to Pay for Its Special Education Programs.The Federal Government in Washington, D.C. mandates that local school districts such as ours provide special programs for certain students. Unfortunately, the Federal Government often provides little or no funding for these programs. Governor Wilson brought suit against the Federal Government to put an end to this "legislation without compensation." However, Governor Davis dropped the lawsuits in order to appease the Clinton administration. Our district must band together with other concerned districts and force the Federal Government to either provide the funding or make the programs voluntary. |
