Quality of Life.... is what it is all about! It is important to know where our City Council representatives stand on issues that affect us everyday.

Neighborhood Preservation... Our residential neighborhoods are the backbone of our community! I am committed to the development of programs for the rehabilitation of older housing. Since there is little space left to build new neighborhoods, we must be sensitive to what our existing systems can support. I am opposed to a 'shoe horn' approach to new development. I am opposed to unreasonable efforts to force low-cost segregated housing, which traps participants into rent-control-type resale restrictions. I am opposed to future extension of public works capacities, such as sewer service, outside our city limits until the needs of all areas of our own city are assured.

Public Safety ....As our population increases, quick and effective emergency response becomes an even more essential city service. I am committed to maintaining SSF's historical leadership position of excellent police, fire, and paramedic service to our community.

Airport/Residential Compatibility I am committed to the fight to secure outside funding to expand relief to our homeowners from airport noise intrusion.... a Teglia family tradition! Future airport expansion needs to be carefully watched so that overall community noise is reduced, not increased ... a win-win for all.

Sensitivity to Diversity.....My ancestors were immigrants from another country. Programs such as Families on Track at Park Way School, as well as the SSF Learning Center, designed to assist our newer residents, need to be supported and encouraged. I believe that we must continue the SSF tradition of inclusion and opportunity for all.

Parks..... The burden-of-use on our parks makes it critical that focused attention be given to the maintenance of our park facilities as well as to the priority of completing park expansion plans.

User Friendly Access to City Hall. A user-friendly forum for public comment needs to be developed. We need to involve our residents in the decision making process, their input is vital. Council members need to remember that their seats are on 'loan' to them and really belong to the people of the community. Listening is a mark of respect to that community.

Intelligent Future Planning..... focusing on relieving gridlock on our local streets and promoting economic vitality, need to be priorities. Traffic snarls such as those on Hickey Blvd. and El Camino could have, and should have, been dealt with up-front in the planning process. I am committed to an improved planning process that better involves our people.
