The West Bay Sanitary District currently expects to receive about 100 new requests for annexation. Most of these requests are from the Portola Valley area where new homes are being built and where older areas are having failed septic systems. Two important concepts should be noted: 1) The District will annex only at the request of the property owners, and 2) All the capital costs of extending sewer service to the property of the requesters must be borne by them. West Bay will accept the new extensions into the system only after they are finished and they meet the District's standards. After annexation, the District assumes responsibility for the maintenance of any new sewer mains. The expected number of annexations requests will require a significant amount of time on the part of District Staff. |
