Political Philosophy for Matt Grocott

"Leadership that Listens" is the banner under which I am running my campaign. Since running for City Council two years ago, I have worked hard to stay on top of local issues. I am an active member of the San Carlos Chamber of Commerce, regularly attend key Planning Commission and City Council meetings, and am one of three individuals who attended all of the 'Visioning San Carlos' workshops, hosted by the City. While all of the above have been important for me to stay informed, more important has been the 'Town Hall' meetings I organized and hosted through San Carlos Grassroots. Three meetings in all were held, and I only stopped scheduling them because of the campaign season. At the 'Town Hall' meetings, folks were encouraged to participate in open dialogue. Key issues facing our neighborhoods and the downtown were discussed. All written material from the meetings was forwarded to appropriate City staff for consideration. These were a tremendous opportunity for me to listen to the residents of San Carlos discuss issues important to them. Similarly, it is why I am scheduling no host breakfasts at Ingleside Cafe every Saturday morning during the campaign. See my website at http://www.vote4matt.com for details. If elected, I will continue the 'Town Hall' meetings as a Council member on a quarterly basis. |
