Continue literacy programs to improve student learning.By Marie E. BrizuelaCandidate for Board Member; Jefferson Elementary School District | |

Maintain the language literacy success achieved during the past year and promote intensive Math Programs designed to achieve higher levels of proficiency.I have supported an outstanding literacy program that resulted in special recognition by Governor Gray Davis this past Spring. Our teachers have received a great number of bonus dollars as a result of improved test scores. Our classified employees were also rewarded for their contribution to academic gains. Our district committed to having our students read at grade level by the third grade. I will support implementating programs to achieve similar success in math. Computer literacy for our students is a high priority for me. We have a Technology Plan in place but more is needed to achieve the goals that all students are proficient in the area of technology, and that they are prepared to meet the challenges of the increasingly technological world. |
