CANDIDATE STATEMENT

I am an active resident and parent of the Orchard School District. I have two sons currently attending Orchard School. I am 36 years old and have been happily married for 13 years. I work for a San Jose bio-tech firm where I manage a technical group. I have been an active participant in my sons' education at Orchard as a Focus Group, Board meeting, and Parent Teachers Organization member. As a School Board member, I would place the needs and interests of the students above all other agendas. I have and will continue to invest my time and effort to work with the Orchard School Administration, Teachers, and Parents to position Orchard as a recognized place of quality learning that any parent would want their children to attend. My focus will be on the continued improvement of the school's curriculum, educational materials, student safety and security, Gifted and Talented program, Special Education program and existing site facilities. I would work with the Superintendent and other board members to ensure that your tax dollars are spent where they positively and directly impact the students and their environment for learning. I ask that you vote Ken Riley for Orchard School Board Member.
