Why I want to become a City Council Member

I care very much about Sunnyvale and I want to stop Special Interests from overtaking our City

I want to use my passion for our city to ensure that it will stay a great place to live, work and do business for generations to come. I want to make sure that the people of Sunnyvale have a real voice in the direction of our city.

Quality of Life is the cornerstone of my platform. Although I agree that there are many issues that are important, there are five that I will champion.

First, I will spearhead a review of the residential, commercial and industrial building guidelines, so that the sensible interface of new construction will blend with neighborhoods and not overwhelm them.

Second, I will promote policies, which wisely invest our tax dollars so that we continue to provide outstanding recreational, cultural, and social services to our citizens. It is vital to the health of our community to meet the needs of our youth, families, and seniors by supporting initiatives for quality parks, educational and leisure activities and safety needs.

Having worked with special needs populations for more than 20 years, I understand how imperative these services can be for raising the bar on individual quality of life and for families.

Third, I want the governing body of Sunnyvale to be one that instills confidence and comports itself with the highest levels of integrity #invoking civic pride in our community. I will support policies for campaign contribution reform, so that only campaign contributions come from the citizens of Sunnyvale and not from outside developers and special interests. If you cannot vote in Sunnyvale, you cannot contribute to Judy Esteban. I challenge my opponent to do the same.

Fourth, As a member of a disaster aide response team, and the American Red Cross Fast Team co # chair I value and respect the local volunteer and Public Safety heroes who put their lives on the line everyday. I want to make sure they have the opportunity to continue their fine work.

Finally fifth, in this economic downturn, it would be easy to look for shortcuts to bolster local business and lose sight of long-term plans that have been put into motion by previous City Councils. There will be times when it makes sense to abandon plans the city has outgrown. There will also, likely be times when sticking with a "big picture" solution will be an unpopular decision. We need leaders who are not afraid to do both. We need leaders who will vote to set policy that has the citizens interests at heart #whether that's providing services or encouraging economic growth. This is the type of leadership I will embrace as your representative to the Sunnyvale City Council.

My pledge to you is an ethical vote that represents YOUR VOICE. I seek to serve the City of Sunnyvale and give back to this community that has embraced and supported me throughout my life. I ask for YOUR vote and support on November 6th.
