Candidate for Board Member; Monterey Peninsula Community College District

COMMUNITY SUPPORT Some of the many excerpts from the community members, the MPC faculty and staff on my work as incumbent MPC Trustee are as follows:
" I have been extremely pleased with the direction in education Kathrina espouses. She is an especially creative Trustee and strong spokesperson. She has the best interest of all students at heart and believes that all students can produce their best."
Sam Karas

" I believe that the success that MPC has experienced within the last couple of years, is based on your commitment to students and employees of the college. Your advice and actions have allowed the individuals new opportunities, and a peace of mind."

Stephanie Perkins,
MPCEA Past President

" She has outstanding credentials and is an active student of administration and curriculum. She works well with a broad mix of people and organizations".

Max Tadlock
MPC Past President

" Thank you for all the support you have given to faculty and staff at Monterey Peninsula College. You have always been open and willing to dialogue with faculty regarding issues of faculty, staff, and most important the issues of students."

Mark E. Clements,
MPC Instructor

"Kathrina is a current board member running for reelection. She has been, in the words of a retired Hartnell College board member, "a voice in the wilderness" at MPC. Dr.Ognyanovich may sound like a voice in the wilderness to the majority of the board and members of the administration, but to staff, faculty, student body, and community members, she is the voice of reason, creativity and change. Please vote November 6 to keep Dr.Ognyanovich on the MPC Board of Trustees. Her retention is critical to the future of the college."

"Dr.Kathrina Ognyanovich definitely gets my vote, again, as MPC Board Trustee. Dr. Ognyanovich not only represents the faculty, students, and classified staff at our only local community college, she represents the community as well. Her support of the college's Academic Senate, the MPC Foundation, and the MPC Classified Employees Association are mirrored by her activism in the area, including her work with senior citizens' programs, educational organizations, I HELP homeless support program, and workers' unions. Dr. Ognyanovich will continue to work to increase community participation at MPC and vice versa, supporting community outreach programs and community-focused education at the college. Her ability to work with a broad spectrum of groups and people makes her a natural for a trustee position at a campus so diverse as MPC. Please support me in voting to return Dr.Ognyanovich to the MPC Board on November 6."

"I would like to add my voice to those community members supporting Dr.Kathrina Ognyanovich for the MPC Board of Trustees. Kathrina's outstanding credentials as a teacher, an administrator, and an active resident of the Monterey Peninsula definitely qualify her for this position. She is approachable, reasonable, and willing to listen to all sides of a question, at the same time being a strong spokesperson for the cause she espouses. I would like to see her be able to continue the work she has started as an MPC Board member, in which capacity she has tackled many difficult issues and is working to resolving them. She is a true proponent of the college's shared-governance process and is willing to work to support instructors, classified staff, and students alike. By voting for Dr. Ognyanovich on Nov. 6, you will allow MPC to continue to improve, diversify, and grow. "
