Take the "spin" out of the pin

Support Character education.

On August 23, 2001, the Antelope Valley Press wrote an article about a controversy over character education pins. These pins have all of the qualities that our children need to develope into responsible citizens. The pin states "I believe in Loyalty, Respect, Caring, Honesty, Trust, Courtesy, Me and You". These qualities are priceless and I believe this concept and the Character Education Program needs to be expanded so that parents and community members can also have these pins. Morals are basic, simple and not hard to understand, and when children identify these pins with responsible adults wearing them, they will have the direction they need, reinforced by a real person.
I am starting an additional campaign to my running for the Palmdale School District Board of Trustees which is to encourage everyone to buy one of these pins by giving $2.00 to the Palmdale School District for a pin that costs $1.68 according to the paper, or $0.25 a child according to Superintendent Nancy Smith. Additionally, as your Palmdale School Board Trustee, I will donate 10% of my Trustee stipend to the Character Education Program for as long as I am a board member.
Instilling morals in our youth is a responsibility that we all have and the Palmdale School District is to be commended for taking positive action on this issue.
Lets take the "spin" out of the pin and stick it on those that support it.
Vote for me on November 6 so that we can keep our children first!!!
