My experiences as a certified public accountant, licensed real estate broker and vice president with a Fortune 100 company will add a new dimension and complement the talents of the other board members when handling the issues facing the District. On November 6th, Downey voters face a critical decision regarding the election of Governing School Board members. It is essential that the school board have a representative with strong business and financial skills and a LONG TERM vested interest in our children's education. My experiences as a certified public accountant, licensed real estate broker and vice president with a Fortune 100 company will add a new dimension and complement the talents of the other board members when handling the issues facing the District. As a certified public accountant, while auditing USC, the Claremont Colleges I became extremely familiar with fund accounting, school budgets, contracts and grants. As a licensed real estate broker, I am familiar with the construction process, the bid process and dealing with change orders, all this will help in dealing with the District capital improvement program. I am seeking election to Downey School Board because of my LONG TERM, vested interest in ensuring our children's success. This is supported by the fact that all my 3 children CURRENTLY attend Downey public schools at the elementary, middle and high school levels. As a parent, I experience first hand, on a daily basis the issues facing our children. My wife is a teacher in the Downey School District. She is a member of 4 PTA's and has held various unit board positions. As a husband, I see the issues and challenges our teachers and school administrators are facing. I am an active member in the Downey community through my church, the various great sports programs and currently as a Downey YMCA Board member and a member of Kiwanis International and Toastmasters International. |
