Candidate for
Governing Board Member; Downey Unified School District; Trustee Area 3

I currently work for Merrill Lynch as a Vice President in the Corporate Real Estate Division. As a corporate executive, I have learned to "think outside the box". As a school board member, I will always strive for new ways to improve the education for our children and to provide professional development for our teachers and staff. I am a Certified Public Accountant and a Licensed Real Estate Broker. While auditing USC, Claremont Colleges, Pomona College and University of Redlands, I became extremely familiar with school budgets, fund accounting, contracts and grants.

I am married to Carol, a Downey Unified School teacher and a member of four PTA's, and she has held various unit board positions. We have been married for eighteen years. We have three children, Christopher, Ryan and Lara. All my three children currently attend the Downey schools at the elementary, middle and high school levels. I will have a child in the Downey Unified School District for the next nine years. I have a LONG-TERM VESTED interest in ensuring our children's success.

I am active in the Downey community, through my church; Downey AYSO where I have been a coach and referee; Downey Little League as a coach; Downey Junior Athletic Association as an assistant coach; The Downey YMCA as board member; Kiwanis International member and Downey Toastmaster International member.

I have demonstrated to be a person of integrity, high ethics and commitment to our children, teachers and community.

I have the background and experience to handle and find solutions for the issues the School District is facing, including overcrowding, safety, teacher salaries and retention and ensuring every child reaches their full potential.

I am running for School Board because of my LONG-TERM VESTED interest in our children, teachers and community.
