Kevin Fulton was born in South Central Los Angeles, before moving to Downey, California at the age of nine. Kevin attended public school in Downey, from elementary school until graduating from Downey High School. Kevin then went on to serve his country as a reconnaissance soldier in the United States Army. This service included guarding the borders of Europe, functioning as a liberator in the Persian Gulf War, and acting as a humanitarian in Operation Provide Comfort for Kurdish Rebels. Kevin was awarded 10 medals and received an Honorable Discharged after four years of service in the United States Army. Upon Kevin's return to Downey, he enrolled in Cerritos College, where he was elected to the student Senate and awarded two Silver Falcons, and the William "Bill" Lewis Award for excellence in forensics and community service. After graduating with honors from Cerritos, Kevin continued his education and now possesses a Juris Doctor Degree. While attending law school, Kevin was the recipient of four community service awards from various organizations to honor his contribution to the elderly, abused women and children, "at risk" students, and people with low income. Kevin has worked for the last seven years at the Norwalk-La Mirada Unified School District, first as a School Peace Officer and currently as a Communications Officer. In addition to his full-time employment, Kevin has managed extra assignments and interests to include: Assistant Forensics Director, Basketball Coach, and Camp Facilitator for Project Interdependence whose focus is disabled students. Kevin's peers acknowledged his student and community dedication when he was awarded the California School Employees Association Chapter 404, Department Employee of the Year and District Employee of the Year. Kevin has shown his dedication to community by participating on the Board of Directors for Helpline Youth Counseling, founding a youth voting club, volunteering at the Domestic Violence Clinic, and training students in conflict resolution. Currently, Kevin is an active member of the American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign War, the National Organization of Women, and the California School Employees Association. |
