Affordable Housing and New DevelopmentBy Robert PatrinoCandidate for Member, City Council; City of San Ramon | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
Many talk about supporting "affordable" housing, but do little about it.Currently in San Ramon there is little available undeveloped land. I support infill development where appropriate, as well as development of unicorporated areas that are within San Ramon’s sphere of influence as appropriate. Our new General Plan includes mixed use in the Crow Canyon Redevelopment Area. I support a plan to redevelop this predominately industrial area into a mixed use area that includes residential development, along with retail and business components. The development of the Dougherty Valley includes an affordable element and we must continue to monitor via the Dougherty Valley Oversight Committee the development and retention of that element. Any future development of the Tassajara Valley will have to include an adequate mix of appropriate housing opportunities for all economic levels for me to vote to approve it. I will work to assure an adequate mix of housing opportunities for all economic levels. This mix should include both rental stock and ownership potential. I am very concerned about seniors, teachers and public service employees being able to live and work in San Ramon. I will work to provide these important members of our community the ability to find affordable, quality housing opportunities in San Ramon. |
