Build a second high school in San RamonBy David E. HudsonCandidate for Member, City Council; City of San Ramon | |

There are over 2100 students at Cal High already. We can't wait as long to act as we did for the Westside Middle School. Build our new high school now.I have been screaming for a new high school since before I was elected in 1997. I was able to secure a new elementary school site in Bollinger Canyon (if we build there)but no one was listening then about a high school. Now we are overcrowded at Cal High and it will be a minimum of 5 years before the school district and developers can build and open a new high school. The high school was not a priority with anyone when the Dougherty Valley agreement was signed but it is now. I repeatedly point out to the school district, developers and environmentalists that we can not add the high school site to open space. It must be built. If we let the school district build a high school later or outside of San Ramons city limits, Broadmoor and Pine Valley Rd. will become a parking lot. Already Students are finding the high school parking lot full. This issue is even more serious than the Westside Middle School debacle. SRVUSD was planning on 8th graders at Cal High back then. We don't need these kinds of disruptions, we need leadership. Build the high school now. |
